THE EMBERS WIN THE
JIM BEAM NATIONAL CAMPUS BAND COMPETITION
Last night in Sydney The Embers competed in The National final. Drawn in the sixth of the seven playoff positions The Embers brought the house down with their infectious “world” music. Prior to their performance the crowd response had been surprisingly sedate, with mainly “local” support for each band. From the first bars of The Embers first song the change that came over the crowd was truly amazing. People appeared from all corners and watched in fascination as the sound that is The Embers took over.
After the acceptance that this Tassie band is pretty good the place rocked and the crowd response at the finish of their set was overwhelming. With one act to go the possibility of a win was on the cards. Finally all was finished and the judges decision was pending . To the delight of the crowd The Embers were judged the winner of the National Campus Band Competition for 2006. Truly a great night for Tassie music.
Well done The Embers !!!.
